October 2008

Town Crier and patientTown Crier, Alistair Chisholm, was guest on Sam's Saturday Mornings on the 11th of October 2008. Alistair spoke about his recent activities as the County Town's Crier, and what was happening in his week ahead.

Prior to Alistair's arrival at the studio Sam, aided by Jed (Sam's studio assistant for the morning), had run a competition whereby all the names of the wards were put into a hat and one lucky ward would be pulled out to win a suitable prize. Kingfisher wards name was pulled out the container and two, suitable, games of Snakes and Ladders were chosen to go to the ward.

Live on air Sam called the ward to let them know that they had two games which they had run.

To make the event of receiving the prizes more interesting, Sam asked Alistair if he would mind spending a couple of minutes after the programme visiting Kingfisher Ward. Happily Alistair accepted the invitation. Sam called ahead to inform the ward that there would be a special guest shortly arriving at Kingfisher to deliver the prizes.

Upon arrival at Kingfisher Ward Sam, Alistair and Jed were guided by staff to one of the bays and told that the staff wanted Alistair to present the games to one of the patients. They met a young buy called Jack who was wearing a Manchester United top and seemed quite excited about the England game which was due to start in a few hours. Jack's Dad quietly pointed out "I told you this man dresses like a king!" whilst looking at Alistair. Jack accepted the games on behalf of the ward staff and paused for a while whilst the nurses fought with the digital camera to take a photo of him with Alistair
