This was an opportunity for us to show off a bit, at the same time involving the listeners in the Hospital Open Day event celebrating 50 years of the National Health Service.
With our new OB caravan we had pride of place in the Hospital's courtyard along with display stands by other voluntary organisations - St John Ambulance, W.R.V.S, etc.
The main purpose of the day was for visitors to have a chance to see the various departments of the hospital - operating theatres, x-ray, othopeadics, etc. (including Ridgeway Radio). Our job was to keep visitors informed of events, via a public address system in the courtyard, and interview colleagues from other voluntary services, whilst providing some light musical entertainment. All this was relayed to patients via the usual bedside radio system and was a successful occasion
