The Dorchester Agricultural Show at Cokers Frome on the outskirts of the county town has been the venue for several outside broadcasts. This annual event is an opportunity for local countryfolk to get together and show off a bit, and attracting about 40 to 50 thousand people in the process.
There are livestock competitions - cattle, sheep, pigs etc - horse and dog shows, hundreds of trade stands, a fun-fair, various Pavilions - flowers, rural crafts etc - and static displays by local organisations (such as Ridgeway Radio). In the main arena various displays have included The Household Cavalry Mounted Display, The Adams Axemen, The Dancing Diggers and The Highland Pipe Band - to name but a few.
Hopefully our broadcasts have brought some of the atmosphere to the patients listening in hospital as well as giving us valuable publicity from our centrally positioned pitch.
