HOSPITAL
RADIO IN DORCHESTER REACHES
35 YEARS!
From a room in the Conservative Club the Dorchester Hospital Broadcasting Association began 35 years ago - one day a week (Thursday night). Three founder members from all those years ago are still involved in hospital radio today, managing Ridgeway Radio and producing programmes. We well remember the early days - a huge valve amplifier which produced a blue radioactive-like glow, one gram and one microphone with a girt big switch to change between them. Thankfully we have technically progressed somewhat since then. But the purpose is just the same - to entertain the patients, with music, friendly chat and personal contact, hopefully taking their mind off the reason for being there in the first place.
The occasion was reported in our local newspaper the DORSET ECHO. The article by Miranda Holman is included in our In The News pages, or click here to go straight to the article
